Cost
This course costs £150 per delegate. CITB levy paying companies can claim a Tier 1 Short Course Grant for this course which equates to £60 per delegate. Grants are paid by the CITB upon completion of the course.
Overview
The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is for you if you’re considering or are already working in the construction and civil engineering industry.
The course highlights potential hazards when working on a construction site and provides practical advice on keeping yourself and your colleagues safe. It covers your individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what you can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk, and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.
Content
Upon completion of the course you will have an understanding of:
- The need to prevent accidents and the individual responsibility of construction workers for their own safety and the safety of others
- Health and safety law
- How your role fits into the control and management of the site
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Performing safely and asking for advice
- How to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
- Fire prevention
- Occupational health
- Work equipment
- Manual handling
- Working at height
Certification
At the end of this course, you’ll receive a CITB Health & Safety Awareness qualification which is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.
