EWTs for experienced forward tipping dumper operatives
NPORS is the leading accreditation scheme for forward tipping dumper operatives. JRS Training is an approved training provider specialising in delivering Experienced Worker Tests (EWTs) for both traditional and CSCS NPORS cards.
If you are already an experienced forward tipping dumper operative who holds a red Trained Operator NPORS card, you will need to complete a Level 2 NVQ in Plant Operations (forward tipping dumper) to upgrade to a blue Competent Operator NPORS card.

Who attends?
An NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper EWT is right for you if you have:
- 18 months provable work experience, and/or
- 6 months consistent daily experience
using a forward tipping dumper. This will be verified by the filling out of a profile at the beginning of the course.
Please note that you must have a good understanding of spoken and written English to complete this course.
Certification
Traditional NPORS Operator cards (without the CSCS logo) must be renewed every 5 years by completing refresher training or completing a renewal form.
Red NPORS CSCS Trained Operator cards last for 2 years and cannot be renewed (though they can be extended for 1 year if required). The red card must instead be upgraded to a Blue NPORS CSCS Competent Operator card.
The Blue NPORS CSCS Competent Operator card must be renewed every 5 years through the same process as the traditional card.
For NPORS CSCS cards, you must have passed the HS&E Test for Operatives within the last 2 years.
Length
NPORS Experienced Worker Tests (EWTs) last for just a couple of hours, minimising disruption to your operations.
NPORS Traditional Cards
Lasting for 3 or 5 years, NPORS traditional cards are attained by completing a novice course or experienced worker test. They do not feature the CSCS logo.
NPORS Red Trained Operator Cards
These temporary cards last for 2 years and require you to have passed the HS&E test within the last 2 years. To renew, you must upgrade to a blue card.
NPORS Blue Competent Operator Cards
To upgrade to a blue card, you must complete an NVQ in the relevant category and have passed the HS&E test within the last 2 years. They last for 5 years.

What’s covered?
The NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper EWT consists of a theory test and practical assessment which ensures you are able to safely carry out a range of tasks, including:
- Carrying out pre start and running checks
- Setting up the dumper for site & road travel
- Travelling over differing types of terrain, including rough undulating ground (both loaded & unloaded)
- Travelling up & down substantial inclines (both loaded & unloaded)
- Positioning the dumper to receive loads
- Complying with loading procedures
- Discharging loads into trenches & over edges
- Placing the machine in and out of service condition
- Explaining loading and unloading procedures on & off of transporter

Site requirements
We come to you to carry out the assessment. Due to what is involved in the practical test, there are some specific site requirements which must be satisfied in order for it to take place. These are different for each plant category, and we will send you the list at the booking stage to ensure the test can take place. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
