Part of CITB‘s Leadership & management suite of courses, Planning & Monitoring Work is an interactive course designed to develop the leadership and management skills of existing or budding supervisors in relation to planning and allocating work, monitoring team performance, and rectifying underachievement.

The CITB Planning & Monitoring Work course is for you if you’re working, or will soon be working, as a site supervisor.

Please note that you must have a good understanding of spoken and written English to complete this course.

What’s covered?

The CITB Planning & Monitoring Work course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills associated with improving team performance against progress and quality standards in construction.

Upon completion of the course, you’ll go back into the workplace with knowledge of the following:

  • Understanding organisational policies
  • Allocating work in compliance with policies
  • Understanding SMART objectives and their uses
  • Creating SMART objectives to achieve goals
  • Allocating work to meet team objectives
  • Methods and stages of allocating work
  • Checking team members’ understanding
  • Methods of performance monitoring
  • The impact of monitoring performance on the plan
  • Identifying underachievement against the plan
  • Actions to rectify underachievement
  • Long-term prevention of underachievement

We recommend this course is taken alongside our CITB SSSTS course.

What to bring

You’ll need to bring a form of ID, such as your driving license, passport, or CSCS card.

We’ll provide you with a pen and paper for notetaking, but you’re welcome to bring your own notebook.

It’s a full day course each day, so please bring a packed lunch. If the course is taking place at our office, there is a café on-site.

Course funding

If you are up to date with your CITB levy returns, you can claim a £60 grant back upon completion of this course.

This grant can be claimed in conjunction with the Skills and Training Fund.

Alternatively, if you are part of a CITB Employer Network, you can get 70% of the cost of the course paid for by CITB up front.

PLANNING & MONITORING WORK

Assessment

Continual assessment takes place throughout this course, with the trainer ensuring that you understand the material and feel confident going back into the workplace as a competent supervisor.

There is a final exam at the end of the day which consists of 8 questions and has a pass mark of 75%. The test consists of a mix of multiple choice questions and questions requiring short written answers.

Additional support is available for those who have difficulty with reading or writing. Please let us know in advance where possible so we can help you.
